I know I speak for the other staff members at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, PC when I say we feel very blessed to be able to provide the care and support to our patients through their breast reconstruction paths. Our lives are enriched by the courage, strength, and determination these women and men demonstrate. We realize we have been given the privilege of being a participant in their journey and feel a strong connection during recovery and beyond.
The other morning, I was greeted by an incredible gift; a wonderful gesture of appreciation. As a gift to her physician and our staff, Dr. Korn's patient purchased one of the artistic bra creations, auctioned off at the Creative Cups™ 2015 benefit for the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program.
I felt extremely moved by the note which accompanied it:
“To the staff at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, especially Dr. Peter Korn and Mollie Sugarman…
1 year later!
Thank you for making women sparkle inside and out.”
Our gratitude goes to Maria for this extraordinary gift and for placing her trust with us during one of the most trying times of her life.
About this creative piece and the artist:
“Pretty in Pink” by Kelly Marco
“When I think of breast cancer I think of pink; therefore, for my Creative Cup, I envisioned Pretty in Pink as my title before I even started. I chose radiant gems and pearls because they are empowering, girly and every woman deserves sparkles in her life. I added pink feathers to represent a woman’s softness. Feathers also symbolize different things to different cultures such as strength, power, life wisdom, honor and freedom. With breast cancer, there is a feeling of loss of beauty, but in reality it deeply enhances the beauty and appreciation of life.”
