Motherhood may be a magical event in a woman’s life, but for many, it does require something of a trade-off. While some women are able to regain some semblance of their former bodies through exercise and diet after pregnancy, most mothers find that they are not quite so lucky. Fortunately, plastic surgery offers a number of excellent solutions, from world-class body contouring to state-of-the-art breast surgery.
For mothers who wish to make comprehensive changes to their bodies after pregnancy and truly turn back the clocks, multiple plastic surgery procedures can be customized and combined into mommy makeover treatment plans. At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, PC, we tailor each mommy makeover plan to the unique needs and goals of each individual mother, helping her achieve the refined figure she had prior to having her first child. In many cases, patients emerge from treatment looking even better than they ever had.
At our plastic surgery practice in Long Island, mommy makeover candidates are advised of their options during confidential, one-on-one consultations with our team of esteemed, experienced surgeons. Are you a good candidate for a mommy makeover? The best way to find out is to meet with one of our talented plastic surgeons today.
What is a mommy makeover?
A mommy makeover isn’t a single procedure, per se, but rather a customized treatment plan comprised of several procedures designed to improve the appearance of the entire figure. Depending on the individual patient’s unique needs, a mommy makeover may include two or more of the following treatments:
- Breast augmentation
- Breast lift
- Breast reduction
- Thigh lift
- Arm lift
- Neck lift
These treatments can also be combined with facial procedures such as face lift, brow lift, and blepharoplasty, or injectable treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic if desired.
Are you a good candidate for a mommy makeover?
First and foremost, before you decide to undergo a mommy makeover, you should be reasonably certain that you are finished having children. While the results of your mommy makeover will be long lasting, they can easily be undone if you become pregnant again. At least six months should have passed since your pregnancy, and four months since you stopped breast feeding if breast surgery is part of your mommy makeover.
Otherwise, in order to be considered a suitable candidate for a mommy makeover, you should:
- Be in good enough health to undergo invasive surgical procedures
- Be at a stable weight, preferably at or near your ideal body weight, albeit with deposits of excess fat around your abdomen and other areas of your body
- Have excess skin and fat that does not respond to exercise or diet
- Have breasts that appear deflated, sagging, or asymmetrical
- Have reasonable expectations of your mommy makeover, which we will help you establish during your consultation
- Be willing to commit to a healthy post-surgical lifestyle in order to maintain your results
