At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, P.C. we are proud to provide compassionate, patient-oriented care that can improve your appearance, confidence, and well-being. We understand surgical costs and out-of-pocket expenses are a major consideration for most of our patients. We want our patients to make educated, informed decisions and feel completely comfortable with every aspect of their experience with us. When it comes to the costs of your procedure, we believe in being fully transparent. During the planning phase of your treatment, our doctors and staff will discuss your surgical options, their related costs, and answer any questions you have. As a practice dedicated to providing the highest standards of care, we know that open communication is a key to creating an atmosphere of trust. We are happy to speak with you about covering your plastic surgery cost and insurance options during a consultation at our Long Island, NY, practice. What the Cost of Your Procedure Covers
Cosmetic surgical procedures are performed in our office surgical suite, which is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). This office operatory is fully equipped, with anesthesia provided by board-certified, hospital based anesthesiologists. Patients will be billed by us for use of this facility including anesthesia, as well as charged separately for the surgeon's fee. In some cases, a physician assistant might aid the surgeon during treatment at no additional charge. Cosmetic surgery fees are due two weeks in advance of the surgical date. For your convenience, our practice accepts all major credit cards.
Reconstructive procedures are generally performed at the hospital or ambulatory surgery center, with the exception of procedures performed under local anesthetic in the office treatment rooms. Our surgeons are affiliated with Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Glen Cove and Syosset, St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, Huntington Hospital, Winthrop University Hospital and South Nassau Hospital. If your insurance requires use of a specific hospital we will schedule your surgery at that facility. Our practice will bill your insurance carrier for the surgeon's fee and an assistant fee if required (another of our plastic surgeons or one of our physician assistants). The hospital and anesthesia groups will also independently bill your insurance carrier.
Insurance Billing and Payment Responsibilities
Depending upon the nature of your procedure, it may be fully or partially covered by your insurance carrier. With regard to breast reconstruction, federal and state law protects a person's right to choose the exact reconstructive procedures. We have participation contracts (In-network) with all UnitedHealthcare® and Oxford plans, and Medicare. We also generally accept insurance allowances for insurance plans with out-of-network benefits. If your procedure is covered by insurance, bear in mind that deductibles and co-pays are the patient's responsibility for both in-network and out-of-network plans. We encourage patients to carefully review their coverage with our insurance coordinator at which time the amount of a specific procedure's co-pays and deductibles can be determined. Because we have special expertise in advanced breast reconstruction procedures not provided by most plastic surgeons we are often able to negotiate insurance contracts with HMO and EPO plans for which we do not have participation contracts. This is permitted by NY State law which limits patient responsibility to that of in-network levels in these circumstances.
Safeguarding Your Investment
Patients should keep in mind that plastic surgery, like any type of surgery, may result in the need for revisionary procedures at additional costs. By choosing our board-certified plastic surgeons, you are taking an important first step towards reducing your risk of complications that could necessitate a secondary procedure. Our standard of care has earned us a reputation for excellence. By listening closely to your goals and making patient health and safety a priority, we strive to minimize the number of procedures you will need to undergo.
