Dr. Peter Korn is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and specializes in aesthetic procedures of the face, body, and breast, as well as in breast reconstruction surgery. Dr. Korn is a strong believer in the inseparable relationship of the aesthetic and reconstructive aspects in plastic surgery, combining an aesthetics eye with the skill-set of advanced reconstructive surgery to achieve optimal outcomes. Dr. Korn is regarded as a leading specialist in breast reconstruction using the full spectrum of techniques in an individualized approach; he is nationally one of the most experienced surgeons in performing DIEP flap (deep inferior epigastric perforator flap) breast reconstruction. Furthermore he has pioneered the fleur-de-lis TUG flap (transverse upper gracilis flap) flap and PAP flap (profunda femoris artery perforator flap), which allow using inner thigh tissue to offer more natural breast reconstructions in thin women. He performs innovative aesthetic procedures, such as the MACS (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension) facelift, and transconjunctival blepharoplasty, both of which provide effective and natural appearing facial rejuvenation. Dr. Korn is also experienced in state of the art aesthetic breast and body contouring procedures.
Born and raised in Munich, Germany, Dr. Korn received his doctorate degree at the prestigious University of Vienna. He pursued his training in Surgery at the Cornell University / New York-Presbyterian Hospital and completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training at the combined program of Cornell and Columbia Universities. Furthermore, he gained expertise at world renowned centers, such as the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He was Assistant Professor of Surgery at the New York Medical College, and the Chief of the Microsurgery and Replantation Service at the Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Korn relocated his practice to Great Neck, New York in 2008.
Dr. Korn is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of multiple professional societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has authored multiple articles in leading surgical journals and has presented his work at numerous conferences. While at Cornell, he was the honorary recipient of the Dicran Goulian Award for Academic Excellence. He was the recipient of the President’s Award of the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2011 for his work on the TUG flap breast reconstruction. Dr. Korn is also an accomplished concert-level flutist and pianist. He studied at the conservatories in Hamburg and Vienna and has performed in numerous concerts.
Dr. Korn performs aesthetic outpatient surgery in our new state-of-the-art office operatory as well as ambulatory surgical centers. Dr. Korn also practices at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, Huntington, and Syosset, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital, Huntington Hospital, and Winthrop University Hospital.
