Annette Pennington, our aesthetician and skin care specialist, will analyze,
refresh and rejuvenate your skin. She has years of experience in the skin care
field and can offer you many different Spa treatments: IPL, Laser Hair Removal,
Facials, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels and Home Care Products. All
treatments are customized according to individual skin type. As a make-up
artist, Annette offers full camouflage techniques for concealing tattoos as well
as doing makeup for special occasions. Skin care services are coordinated with
Dr. Feingold, Dr. Israeli and Dr. Korn. This includes preoperative skin
conditioning before chemical peels and facelifts, complimentary postoperative
makeup to conceal bruising, and postoperative ultrasound after liposuction,
breast augmentation and breast reconstruction.
Annette received her aesthetic training at the N.Y. Institute of Beauty on Long
Island and is licensed by the State of New York. A graduate of St. Vincent’s
Hospital School of Nursing, Annette has brought her years of medical experience
as well as her compassionate nature into her aesthetic practice. She is a
certified volunteer in the “Look Good…Feel Better” program sponsored by the
American Cancer Society. The program teaches skin care and make-up techniques to
cancer patients to help combat the appearance related side effects of some
cancer treatments. Annette is committed to providing the safest, most advanced
medical aesthetic services and products available. Her goal is to educate, treat
and meet the individual needs of each patient.
IPL IPL (intense pulsed light) also known as “photo-facial” is a treatment
breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as
spider veins, age spots, sun damage, mottled pigmentation, broken capillaries
and rosacea. This non-invasive treatment delivers a special range of wavelengths
of light in customized pulses gently into the skin. The light is absorbed either
superficially by broken capillaries and dark pigment or by deeper and larger
vessels and collagen. Dilated capillaries coagulate, pigmented lesions darken
and then slough off and new collagen fibers are laid down, giving the skin a
renewed and more youthful appearance. Many patients report a reduction in pore
size, smoother skin and less wrinkles. Treatments are gentle, offering gradual
results with little or no downtime or side effects.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair reduction stops hair growth by emitting a beam of light that passes
through the skin into the hair follicle. This light is absorbed by the pigment
(color) in the hair, converts to heat thus disabling the follicle and destroying
its ability for re-growth. Cycles of hair growth play a major role in hair
removal treatment. There may be as many as 25,000 hair follicles per square inch
of skin, but less than 20% may be at the correct stage of growth at any given
time. For this reason, it is difficult to predict the exact number of treatments
or length of time before there is no more growth in the treated area. A series
of four, six, or eight treatments, four to six weeks apart, may be recommended.
Facial Treatments
All of our facial treatments include skin analysis, exfoliation, extractions,
gentle facial massage and appropriate mask therapy. Customized Facials are
specifically tailored to the special needs of each individual. Therapeutic, yet
relaxing will help improve the overall appearance and texture of the skin. Your
skin will be clean, smooth, refreshed and completely nourished. Pre-surgical
peels include cleansing, increasing hydration and accelerating cell turnover
prior to surgery. Post-surgical peels help to speed healing. Gentle cleansing
reduces edema, increases hydration and restores normal sensation more quickly.
The Purifying Medical Facial is aimed at calming, smoothing and balancing skin
that is prone to breakouts. This includes deep cleansing, exfoliation and
hydration. It is recommended for acne prone skin, rosacea and other skin
problems. Back Rescue is a clarifying back “facial” that includes deep pore
cleansing, exfoliation and special treatment mask. This treatment will leave
your back ready to be seen, the perfect treatment for “Bacne” or getting ready
for swim suit season. Men’s Rejuvenating Facial focuses on specific needs of
men’s skin: clogged pores, razor irritation and often neglected skin. It will
nourish, rejuvenate and leave you glowing with vitality.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, non-surgical exfoliating treatment using a
“blast” of fine organic mineral crystals to deeply exfoliate and refine the
skin’s surface. This safely removes the upper layers of the epidermis, reduces
large pores, and encourages rebuilding of new collagen. Brown spots, fine lines,
and light scarring can be greatly diminished with a series of treatments. This
may be combined with a light chemical peel for faster results.
Chemical Peels
By treating the epidermis through exfoliation (acid peels), we accelerate the
process of cell metabolism and turnover. This results in improved skin tone,
elasticity and texture as well as dramatically reducing fine lines, wrinkles,
hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores and even light acne scarring by stimulating
new collagen production.
