Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery - Long Island, New York
On your first visit to our Great Neck location, you will be greeted in our reception area and asked to complete our intake sheet. Please be prepared to provide your insurance card and a photo ID. Our nursing staff will then bring you into one of our comfortable treatment rooms. The nurse will take your medical history and the doctor will then join you for your personal consultation. After an initial discussion with the doctor, a physical examination will allow a focused and thorough review of the available surgical choices. You will have ample opportunity to discuss any concerns and to review your options. Our surgeons are experts in a myriad of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures and will give you the time and attention needed to allow you to feel comfortable with your treatment plan.
When you have completed your consultation with the doctor, you will be introduced to our support staff. Our patient coordinator, Mary Daniels, will help you with scheduling your surgery and is available to answer any questions you may have. For patients having breast reconstruction or other reconstructive surgery, Cheryl Ross, our insurance coordinator, will guide you through the insurance preauthorization process.
We look forward to providing you with the best possible care in a comfortable and warm environment. After your initial visit and during your time under our care, do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Breast Reconstruction Consultation
As the first and busiest breast reconstruction center of excellence on Long Island, we understand the emotional turmoil of a mastectomy. If you are presenting for an initial breast reconstruction consultation, you will have the opportunity during your first visit to meet with Mollie Sugarman, the director of our Patient Empowerment Program. Mollie will sit down with you and spend the time needed to address your individual emotional needs in order to help you work towards healing and recovery.
Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetician Services
Most cosmetic surgery procedures are scheduled in our fully equipped AAAASF-certified surgical facility. If you like, during your first visit or at any time thereafter, you may have the opportunity to tour our surgical suite and recovery area where our patients recover after surgery in a comfortable, safe environment.
At the time of your visit, if you are interested, you can schedule a complimentary skin evaluation with our aesthetician, Annette Pennington. She is available to review non-surgical and non-invasive treatments that can refresh and rejuvenate your skin.
Visiting From Out of Town
Our surgeons are nationally recognized experts in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction and frequently participate in the care of patients traveling from out of town. Breast reconstruction services can be coordinated for visiting patients that are newly diagnosed as well as for individuals with the breast cancer gene (BRCA) mutation. We work closely with a number of breast surgeons and oncologists in managing the care of our breast reconstruction patients and can provide referrals if needed.
Our surgeons also routinely treat women who present to us from throughout the country for repair of abdominal wall hernias and bulges related to TRAM flap breast reconstruction. Our unique approach to corrective surgery allows for a reliable and stable repair of this type of problem after TRAM flap surgery. In most cases this type of abdominal wall reconstruction is accomplished in coordination with a general surgeon who is an expert in hernia repair. During your first visit, the need for coordinated care can be addressed.
For patients traveling from out of town, our support staff will provide the information and support needed to make the experience of consultation and treatment as seamless as possible. To make arrangements for your first visit, please ask to speak with Mary Daniels or Cheryl Ross for assistance.
